Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Murray Goldman initially studied to be a doctor. But two years into his pre-med studies at Dalhousie University for economic reasons, he was obliged to abandon that dream. He moved to Toronto where he has lived ever since. Murray’s longstanding preference for redeveloping inner city sites stems from a desire to leave green suburban spaces green and retrofit obsolete properties through urban renewal projects.

This ethical thread is woven into every Goldman Group project. As the GTA has matured, Murray has led the way in the successful gentrification of old industrial areas into livable new ones, of neglected areas into vibrant new neighbourhoods. As real estate development and Toronto’s demographics have changed over the years, Murray has encouraged Goldman Group to change with them. As a result the business has adapted, thrived and remained relevant. In his over 60 years in the industry Murray has received countless accolades and awards for his work and his approach. His penchant for seeing things that others miss has manifested in creative award winning projects like the Picasso condominium, as well as investments outside of the development sector, including indoor shrimp farming, medical marijuana and grass-fed prairie beef.

After a long career as an entrepreneur, Murray can now count over 150 projects in the city in his portfolio. As he matures in his career, his love for the thrill of transforming real estate into very human spaces remains undiminished.
